Natural solution

Safe natural solutions against ticks and fleas
What a lot of people don't know: There are many natural remedies against ticks and fleas that are not toxic to your dog or cat, and that have a great repellent effect on ticks and fleas. Most treatments must be used more often in the beginning. When the scent (because that's what gives the repellent effect) is more evenly distributed over the coat, you can start using it less frequently. The good thing about these products is that they do not work by poisoning the tick or flea, but by repelling them. This way you prevent them from biting your pet.

With many poisonous treatments (Bravecto, Nexgard, Simparica etc. etc.) the tick or flea must bite and drink the blood of your pet to die from the poison that's inside your pet. Not a good thing, right!? So a repelling treatment is the only safe way to help your pet.

Coconut oil (organic) - Coconut oil (the same which is also used in the kitchen) has an excellent repelling effect against ticks and fleas. It's the 'lauric acid' in coconut oil that has the repellent effect on ticks and fleas. As a result, your furry friend is no longer attractive at all. The best brands are in a glass jar, and are without chemical additives, from organic origin, and not deodorized (important!)

Essential oils recipe (for dogs only, not for cats) - This one is a recipe of a mixture of some essential oils, apple cider vinegar and water. This also works as a repellent, and works great to avoid ticks (and fleas). Rub it in the fur of your pet once a day (best to do this before the walk). Some people use a water sprayer with this mixture, but many pets hate spraying, so I would prefer to just use the hands (evt. using hand gloves?). Make sure that it doesn't get in the eyes of your pet.
